Child Safety at MCF

Melbourne Christian Fellowship (MCF) is a fellowship of Christian households, which is committed to the public proclamation of the gospel and to meeting together as individuals and families to share the life of Christ with one another (Act 2:42-47).

In this fellowship, the care and protection of children who belong to these household rests primarily with their parents. The Scriptures encourage children to come to Christ and to be established in Him (Mat 19:13-15), however this happens within the context of believing families and under the accountability of parents (Deu 4:9; Eph 6:1-4).

MCF has established a teaching program for primary school aged children which operates at its premises for one hour on a Sunday, as well as a teaching and fellowship program for teenagers which is overseen by church leaders. These programs are for those families who want their children to be involved (Col 1:28).

MCF is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for children. This commitment includes: • not tolerating any kind of child abuse or harm to a child • promoting child-safe culture and a code of conduct for interactions with and among children for all involved • implementing practices that prioritise the safety of children • ensuring that ministers of religion and other persons who work with children at church have ‘working with children’ clearances • supporting workers to keep children at church safe, including through training workers in their reporting obligations and procedures.
